How fixed-departure group trips work

A fixed departure runs on a published date with a real seat count. Here is what that means for price, group size, guaranteed dates and what happens if a date doesn't fill.

A date, a seat count, a price

Every trip on this site has a table of dates. Each date has a number of seats. When you book, one of those seats is yours the moment the deposit clears.

Guaranteed departures

A date marked Guaranteed runs whatever the final group size. Other dates are confirmed at least 45 days before departure; if we can't run one, you get a full refund or a free move to another date.

Group size

We cap groups at the number shown on the trip page — usually 12. Smaller groups mean smaller lodges and a pace set by the people on the trail, not a bus timetable.

Solo travellers

Most people on our departures arrive alone. Twin-share pairs you with another traveller of the same gender. Single rooms cost the supplement shown on each trip.
